The atmosphere is filthy. The air is thick with dust and burnt oil. Dark smokes are being emitted from chimneys, and choking fumes are being released from numerous vehicles. Stay a little while in a big city, then wipe your forehead with your handkerchief, it is black. Hang out your washing on the line to dry, you will have to wash again. Garbage is left to accumulate in unsanitary heaps that attract flies and give off bad smell. Nor is the pollution confined to air and land. Large quantity of sewage and chemical waste are dumped daily into rivers, lakes and the sea, which kills millions of fish. Do you love your mother? Yes ,you may say. That’s good. But at the same time ,do you know you have another mother-the earth. Will you love the earth as you love your morther?
Our mother globe provide us a beautiful living place. But we destory it instead of appreciating it. Our mother globe is in a great dangerous situation now. suppose your mother were sick , would you worry about her? Of course,I think. But if I tell you that our mother globe is sick now ,will you worried?
It is the fact that our mother globe is very sick now. you can see waste paper and uesd coke cans are discarded anywhere.you might have seen plastic bags flying in the sky and getting caught in the trees when the wind blows or may be you have seen old cans floating in rivers and polluting the water. Our environment is the place in which we live,but it is being ruined by us.

Firstly ,for our students ,what should we do? As we know, in most parts of the world , many students help their school to reduce pollution. They join the envirnment clubs and work together to make the environment cleaner there. They ask students to bring their lunchs in bags that can be used again, they never comes to school in a car. Cars release pollution into the air. So we must remember this. They also mend the broken toilets. Do you know that some toilets may waste up to twenty to forty cubic meters of water an hour?
Secondly, the government should make laws to stop the pollution, and take measures to protect our environment. To be an Anji citizen. I feel very prized. You know Anji is famous for bamboo. We have so many bamboos that can not only protect our environment but also can make our city more beautiful. Because our government have carried on a compaign to discourage protecting environment and have instilled a sense of pride in the hearts of those who live there.
Green is in Anji.
There could be no better time than right now to begin-China is to host the 2008 Olympics. At that time ,there will be thousands of foreign visitors coming to view the athletic events as well as to see China’s beautiful and historic sites. Take pride in China. Let China stand tall among the nations in the world!
The world is ours ,it is our only world and it is the job of everyone to make an effort to save it. Please love our mother and love our mother globe-the earth.

Good morning! Today it is my great honor to be here and make my speech. My topic is “let us put our words into deeds”.
First of all, let me take this chance to present you a set of data that I hope will not bore you since it is from China Daily.
China’s tourism revenue last year reached 500 billion RMB, an increase of 10.5 percent from the year before, and comprised more than 5% of China’s GDP. According to experts, this number will grow to 8% in the coming ten years and more than 40 million jobs will be created.
What do these numbers mean? Yes, progress, prosperity, employment and stability.
We know our hometown Anji is very beautiful, it is famous for the bamboos. And our hometown is an ecological country town, Most persons of Shanghai like traveling here. They called Anji is Shanghai’s flower back garden; The start of Huangpu River.
But now, in order to attract more tourists, develop the industry of our hometown. The leader of Anji government announced an order: work hard for five years , make a new Anji. That means we will develop the industry . Maybe It will pollute the environment.
It is good to see that nowadays both the government and people are becoming more aware of environmental protection and ecological balance. What we need to do now is to put our words into our deeds. And this should start from every and each one of us ,and it should start from small instances.
Yes, the government has been doing a great job. And what about us? What should we ourselves do? Some of us may think that is quite difficult. But it can be as simple as: do not litter; and strictly observe the rules and regulations of the tourist areas. Use as few plastic bags and boxes as possible. When traveling, and whenever possible, use public transportation instead of always driving your own car.
It is not that far to reach, right? It is just as simple as the famous slogan for travelers in TianHuangping says, “Please take away nothing but your smile, and leave behind your but your footprint.” I believe that more and more people now are becoming aware of the importance of environment protection. Just imagine if you sit in the Large Bamboos Sea and taste the white tea of Anji, that is so wonderful and comfortable. So now let us turn our passion into action. Give ourselves a brighter future to head to. Leave our next generation a brighter, greener, and better world to stay in. If not us, who? If not now, when?
