首先说你的句子,第一句表达无误；
第二句好像缺乏句子成分,并且一前一后有两个主语 they 和 both of the last two boys,
但是both of 的表达没有错误,
可以把第二句改成

或者
They told the question to the both of the last two boys.

all/all of的区别
All the other girls are Chinese.(BI,P92)所有其他的女孩都是中国人.

[辨析] 一般说来,all和all of 都可以放在有限定词(如冠词、物主代词等)修饰的名词之前.上面第二个句子中的of也可去掉.例如：
All (of) my friends are working hard.我的朋友都在努力工作.
All (of) the food is good to eat.所有的食品都好吃.
但是,如果名词前面没有限定词,则不能用all of.试译：
误：All of children like watching TV.
正：All children like watching TV.
All of 后面还可跟人称代词宾格(us,you,them),all 则不能.例如：

不要把英语学成死东西，就是很自然的表达，of就是“的”的意思
实际运用表示所有的意思，用不用都是可以的。意思都说的通。
第一句没错，但表达太累，
第二句意思不合逻辑，意思是病句，不是of的问题。
my many friends没有这样的说法。如果想表达我所有的朋友，是all of my friends 或all my friends. 如果想表达我的很多朋友，是many of my friends.
